Method 1: Use a Stain Remover Solution

Start by using a stain remover solution or laundry pre-treatment product. Follow the instructions on label for the best results. This usually means soaking stained cloth in the detergent solution for 15 minutes before laundering it.

Method 2: Apply Liquid Detergent Directly to the Stain

If that doesn't work you can try applying a liquid detergent directly to the stain and allowing it to soak in for 10 minutes. Make sure to use a liquid detergent, not a powder one. After 10 minutes is up, rinse off detergent with warm water and then wash as usual.

Method 3: Use a Vinegar Solution

Vinegar is an effective way to break down stubborn barbecue sauce stains. Mix one part vinegar to four parts water and apply the mixture directly to the stain. Allow it to sit for 10 minutes before rinsing off with warm water. Then, either handwash or machine wash as normal.

Method 4: Apply Baking Soda Paste

Baking soda can be used to tackle tough barbecue sauce stains. Simply make a paste by mixing equal parts baking soda and water, and then apply it directly onto the stain. Allow it to sit for 15-20 minutes before rinsing off with warm water and laundering the garment as usual.

Additional Tips

  • Treat barbecue sauce stains as soon as possible so they don't have time to set in.
  • Always read the care instructions on your clothing before attempting to remove the stain.
  • For really tough stains, you may have to repeat the cleaning process several times before you see any results.
